- I do believe Africa is finally getting onto the international fashion map. During the recent Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Africa Scott Schuman from The Sartorialist was in Mzansi! I have always thought that South African street style photographers have a distinct advantage, what with us being the rainbow nation and all, and I was not wrong! Have a look see at Cinder and Skylark for Mother City style and at The Expressionist for Egoli style. These two ASEM Safrican street style blogs proves that we are a nation that does not shy away from colour and we embrace our body shapes like it is nobody’s bidness! Yay for us!
- And Triumph The Insult Comic Dog is back, this time ruining shots at the last US presidential debate!
- Twenty ways to upcycle baby food jars! Love this idea!
- I am looking into solving our in-house dog snooze problem. Currently they are just snoozing anywhere they want and I would really like them to pick a spot and always snooze there. It will result in much less needed vacuuming… I found these awesome ideas for DIY pet beds over at Apartment Therapy. There are some great kitty cat bed ideas!
- And then just a little teaser for the upcoming week on maak’it! Danielle and I ventured further down the confectionary path and attended a cupcake decorating class. It was SO much fun and strangely enough therapeutic.
- We will also start our Alternative Christmas Shopping List next week. Can’t wait to get this section off the ground, there are SO many creative and unique gifts to be found everywhere. But because they are not situated in malls and can’t compete with national marketing campaigns, people don’t really know of it. So maak’it wants to change that, if there is a shop near and dear to you that you think will be perfect for this list, please let us know at tips@maakit.co.za. We are kicking off this section with the ASEM Fient Lifestyle Gallery in Duncan Yard.
